KoolPool is India's first successful Carpooll or Rideshare program to trim down vehicular traffic in the congested roads of its commercial capital, Mumbai, a metropolis measured up to New York for traffic.

They discovered that considerable vehicular space in Mumbai was wasted as average vehicle occupancy level was less than 2 people per car. The challenge was more ominous as 30,000 four-wheelers supplemented the existing vehicular population of Mumbai, every year.

And their aim to cut down 50 million kilometers of travel seemed impractical, till they designed India's first membership based secure and organized Ride share service using Information Technology christened as KoolPool.

KoolPool uses the ubiquitous SMS to match people who travel to one particular part of the city and would want to share a ride. We are enroute to reduce travel time and distance in the sprawling metropolis of Mumbai and neighboring cities. We plan to take this endeavor to international markets.
