Vakow is a new Indian web 2.0 startup for people who love to forward SMS. Vakao lets you post SMSes from web or mobile; tag, rate, comment on and share SMSes with your friends; and subscribe to users or tags to receive SMSes.

SMS is an extremely popular mode of communication in India but is currently limited to people who can read or write English. There are SMSes being written in Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati and many other Indian languages using Roman script so that they can be delivered over SMS.

Vakow is a SMS blogging and sharing site which supports different indian languages. Basically Vakow started supporting unicode, so users who want to type the message in any Indian language needs to use Google translation tool to create a message and then post it on Vakow. Currently these unicode SMSes cannot be shared on phone, but can be shared via email, orkut and facebook.

Using Vakow, you can receive and share cool SMSes. You post SMS messages to Vakow and it will be forwarded to your followers. Your followers can comment on it from their mobile or on the web. Other Vakow! users can rate your SMS, tag it, and share it with their friends on phone, email or various social networks.

Though, they don’t yet support delivery of non-english SMSes over mobile , they believe that users will find currently available sharing options useful and fun.
