Food Printer

Scientists at Cornell University are developing a 3D food printer, which will print foods through syringes filled with 'food inks'.

Part of the the Fab@home project, the team envisions users one day being able insert food inks into a printer, load the 'FabApp' recipe, and print out their favorite meal. Currently the food items are limited to what can be extruded from a syringe, such as liquid or melted ingredients, but experiments have begun with mixing foods with hydrocolloids, substances that are generally used to thicken food products.
